The ACLU takes a lot of flak--but if it weren't for their work over the past 86 years, it's quite possible that many freedoms that we take for granted would not exist. Simply put, no single activist group has done as much for the cause of American civil liberties as the ACLU. Spend a few minutes looking at the ACLU's 100 Greatest Hits (Flash required) and prepare to be amazed.

You’re right. I need to renew my membership. I can’t say I’ve agreed with every stand the ACLU has taken, but I especially appreciate its willingness to represent people of all political and religious persuasions.
